The Ashland Area represents Wisconsin at its very best. Situated on the South Shore of Lake Superior, the City of Ashland - the County Seat, is the largest community in Ashland County and is the second largest city in the ten county Area that comprises Northwest Wisconsin. Ashland's size, together with its' location has made it the central economic force in Northern Wisconsin.

The quality of life in the Ashland Area is second to none. Lake Superior, the largest body of fresh water in the world, offers a variety of year-round pleasures. The Chequamegon (shu-wa-ma-gon) National Forest, no more than 15 minutes from Ashland's city limits, provide 850,000 acres of scenic landscapes, outdoor recreation, and is home to several hundred wildlife species. Vocal and instrumental music and community theatre organizations encourage community involvement in the arts.
