  • Two lighthouses: a 1935 art-deco beacon at the end of a ½ breakwater, and a restored 1860 light station that is now a museum of a lighthouse keepers quarters, which can be toured. A new Fresnel lens was recently installed.

  • Interurban Recreation Trail – free 30 mile paved bike trail runs through downtown Port Washington for easy access.

Whether you are very active, or you prefer to relax & watch the world go by, we have plenty to keep you busy. Fish with one of our successful charter captains, or off the breakwater. Bike the 30 mile, paved, Interurban Trail. Golf on one of the many pro-designed courses in the area. Hike, in several natural areas nearby – Riveredge Nature Center; Lions Den Gorge with lake access; Harrington Beach State Park, right on Lake Michigan. And bring your binoculars – these are great birding areas! Right in town you can follow the walking tours up & down our hidden staircases. Swim at our natural beach, or in our community water park. Or just sit on a bench & take in the sights & sounds of the lakefront & harbor, or of the quaint downtown with the church up on the hill.

This 1935 art deco lighthouse provides a beacon of safety, while an inland lighthouse that dates to 1860 has been restored as a light station museum.
